Growing in water-drenched, humid lowland forests, this striking black tree fern is New Zealand’s largest fern species and is endemic to New Zealand – which means it is found nowhere else on Earth.

Mamaku is iconic for the distinctive curved shape of its fronds. In nature, it helps to regenerate native bush by feeding the soil with nutrients, whilst its umbrella-like fronds help to protect new growth. In traditional medicine, it has been used to treat inflammation and pain.

Those same principles apply to our use of this beautiful fern in our cruelty-free skincare. Mamaku black fern offers the potential to support collagen and moisture levels, assisting with fresh cell growth to promote firmer looking skin.
